Dr Aaron Grieve

(new patient times from 12 months) BA (Police Studies), Post Grad Dip Psych, DPsych (Clinical), MAPS
Aaron is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience and training in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents presenting with a variety of emotional and/or behavioural difficulties including depression, anxiety, OCD, conduct problems, friendship issues, aggression, sleep problems, and separation anxiety. Aaron has worked with many young people who have experienced various traumas. Aaron has worked with numerous children and adolescents who experience problems with conflict at home or school, as well as those young people who may be at risk of disengaging from schooling altogether.
Aaron has experience in working in group or individual settings and has worked within public mental health for a number of years. Aaron has particular experience in working within school settings, and has provided education and training to numerous school staff in the public and catholic school systems. Aaron also has experience in working with individuals who have an intellectual disability.
Aaron utilises a variety of evidence-based techniques to assist children and adolescents in addressing their difficulties in a relaxed approach. Aaron also recognises the importance in supporting those systems that are important in the young person's life, particularly families and schools.

Nathan McGovern

(new appointments 3-4 months) Psychologist, BA (Psych), PG Dip Psych, MAPS
Nathan is a psychologist who has experience working with a range of complex mental health issues. He has worked for many years in roles within the community mental health and alcohol and/other drug service sectors.
He has experience and training in the assessment and treatment of a variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties including depression, anxiety, phobias, grief, trauma, conduct problems, aggression, substance abuse issues, sleep difficulties, developmental disorders and relationship difficulties. He has worked with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced a range of mental health and/or substance use issues. He has also worked with families to reduce relationship conflict and assist with child and adolescent behavioural issues.
He works with people of all ages utilising evidence-based individual and family focused psychological interventions. He has a particular interest in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse/dependence.

Tara Byron

(12+ months for ongoing therapy, shorter wait times apply for one-off assessments such as Autism, Cognitive/Educational) Psychologist, Bachelor of Psychology, PG Dip Psychology, Assoc MAPS Tara has vast experience working with children and adolescents, working for many years within the education setting. She is experienced in the assessment, treatment and management of a range of presenting problems including, but not limited to:
  • Emotional issues such as anxiety and depression.
  • Autism spectrum disorders.
  • Anger and behavioural disorders.
  • Trauma and stress related issues.
  • Sleep difficulties.
  • Self esteem and social difficulties in children and adolescents.
Tara is also skilled in conducting assessments and writing reports for a range of cognitive, learning and behavioural issues and risk assessments for mental health issues.
Tara adopts a range of creative and evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Emotional regulation, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Family focused psychological intervention.
Tara can also offer support to adults presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. Tara has had experience working in an Adult Community Mental Health Setting with a range of presenting problems including Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment disorders, stress management, relationship issues and Personality disorders.

Kathryn Shard

(9-12 months for ongoing therapy, shorter wait times apply for one-off assessments such as Autism, Cognitive/Educational) Psychologist, BA (Psych), PGDipAppPsych, MSc (Psych), MAPS Kathryn has worked for many years in an educational setting providing training for teachers, facilitating parenting groups and providing therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents.
She has worked with clients who have depression, anxiety, challenging behaviours, autism, self esteem issues, anger, sleep issues, school refusal, issues relating to parental separation, school transition and social problems. Kathryn utilises a number of therapies including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Centered Therapy and Mindfulness Techniques.
Kathryn has completed many educational and cognitive assessments for children with learning disorders or developmental delays. She is skilled at writing comprehensive reports to inform both teachers and parents of appropriate interventions.
Kathryn has also worked in a community counselling clinic with adult clients and has supervised a number of psychologists to registration working in different areas such as education, drug and alcohol counselling and the division of General Practice.
AWG Psychology are pleased to offer Medicare Rebates on services. This can occur where psychological issues identified by your GP or Psychiatrist are referred to us under a Mental Health Care Plan.
